Whew. Weekend #1 was a success!
For about as long as I can remember, I have used weekends as an excuse to cheat on any diet that I have ever done (hence, they have all mostly been unsuccessful). I used to think that if I ate really healthily and worked out hard during the week that I could gorge myself on food and wine on the weekends because I "deserved" it. While I fully believe that giving in to the occasional craving or treat is important to diet longevity, what I was doing was binging. I often would eat so much unhealthy food that I would erase any weight loss from the previous week. I was caught in a vicious cycle.
This time around I am trying to stay on point with consistency. I stayed within my points range each day, and found healthy alternatives for my normal pitfalls. I would like to celebrate my mini-victories:
1. I left the house on multiple occasions and never went to a fast food restaurant!
2. I went to a movie with a girlfriend and did not eat ANY movie popcorn or candy (packed a snack instead).
3. I cooked dinner and stay in to eat on Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday
4. I planned ahead for all of my weekend meals
5. I only had 1 glass of wine all weekend! woot!
To round out my nice weekend, I also discussed with my husband some rewards that I would like to have after reaching 10 pound goals. This was very exciting to me because I honestly feel like I can achieve some of them!
Here are my weight loss goals:
5 lbs: new running shoes
10 lbs: manicure and pedicure
20 lbs: 1 hour massage
30 lbs: IPOD Touch (eek! expensive I know, but I don't have a smartphone, and would love to have this to track my points daily!)
40 lbs: Khol's shopping spree
50 lbs: Weekend away with my husband (I'm thinking Spa in the mountains!)
How do these sound? Realistic? I hope I can make it to 50 sometime before 2012 ends!
Tomorrow I start to add in exercise so wish me luck!
This is a fab idea. I'm making myself one of these reward plans tonight.
ReplyDeleteWait. Wine has calories? Note to self: increase counseling appointments to 3x week in place of "wine nights."
